For my senior project I will create awareness and educate others about LGBT events in history by writing a book. This book will not only cover the founding of the LGBT community in the twentieth century and modern gay history, but also the less commonly known gay figures of ancient history. In order to accomplish this, I will do three things: research and write an entire piece of historical non-fiction in approximately six months or less, get it self-published as to take the least amount of time, and sell it primarily to LGBT youth and LGBT organizations. This project is needed because queer kids who feel unsure of themselves and feel unwanted will be empowered to learn that they are not alone through a history lesson which directly relates to them. They will be able to see people who share their same feelings and internal battles have existed in society for a very long time. They will be inspired by strong gay role models they had previously never known existed. My project is designed to help those in the LGBT community who are most susceptible to negative thinking and self-hatred through the means of education. The profit associated with this project includes the experience and knowledge of writing a book as well as informing a wider audience about the LGBT community and its history. However, the most valuable experience is the prospect of assisting young gay people discover themselves and their identities through learning. As a result of the successful completion of my senior project, the LGBT community will receive increased public awareness, queer kids will be able to learn about their distant past, and the community at large will become more knowledgeable about gay issues and the history

behind them. The under saturation of LGBT literature meant to teach queer kids about their roots and educate the community at large about this topic is the essential problem of my senior project.
